Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced Mortal Kombat XL today. This new version of last year's Mortal Kombat X includes every downloadable character released for the fighting game. It will come out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 1.
The original version of Mortal Kombat X was a bit hit last year. It even made the NPD's list of 2015's best-selling games.
Mortal Kombat X is a fighting game in which two characters fight against each other using a variety of attacks, including special moves, and the series' trademark gruesome finishing moves. The game allows two players to face each other (either locally or online), or a single player to play against the CPU. The energy meter, first introduced in Mortal Kombat (2011), allows players to perform. With Mortal Kombat X, Ed Boone's team reserved about half of its roster to franchise newcomers. Takeda debuted in Mortal Kombat X as the son of the blind swordsman Kenshi, and his long-reach.
Those DLC characters include horror movie icons Jason Vorhees and Leatherface, the Xenomorph from Alien, Predator (from, you know, Predator), and returning characters from Mortal Kombat's past: Bo'Rai Cho, Tremor, and Tanya. It also comes with Triborg — a new character who's a combination of the robotic Smoke, Cyrax, and Sektor — and Goro, who was previously a preorder bonus for the original game.

Today in 'we already know this, why is it news' news, dataminers have found more evidence in Mortal Kombat 11 of a DLC character on the way. A brand new post on Reddit shows that hackers have found new audio files in the game related to Fujin, which Warner Bros. was quick to copyright strike so you can't hear the audio file. But basically it was a clip of every match announcer letting you know that 'Fujin wins', depending on the level you fight on. Essentially confirming that he will be added to the game, most likely in a second Kombat Pack.

The thing that just makes us groan over this news is that… it's not new. Everyone's been treating it like a big deal today, but the reality is, this news came out six months ago. From another datamine hack, no less. Which showed more characters that have yet to be revealed such as Sheeva (who we saw in MK11) and Ash Williams from Evil Dead. So while it's cool and all to have confirmation, really, at this point it feels like the hackers are just looking for anything they can in hopes they'll find more characters that what they did. And until they do, they're going to release Mortal Kombat 11 files like this when they come along.
